A Seasonal Refresher

A Seasonal Refresher

Well, the calendar now says March, weathers starting to get better and allergies are on their way. This can only mean that we’re going into Spring. Depending on where you live, the snow has long since melted, grass is starting to grow, trees are getting green and all that rain’s starting to come in.

And with this new season and climate comes a whole new set of opportunities to make better choices when it comes to your health. If you’ve already gotten into the habit of exercising and eating healthy, that’s great; you have a pretty good head start. But there are many people out there who just can’t cope with the winter weather, it’s hard to get motivated for exercise when it’s freezing and dark outside, eating healthy is also kind of hard, because you just want that winter comfort food.

But with the warmth coming in, it’s the perfect time to look into your physical and mental health. Part of having good physical habits is also to make sure that you look the part as well, as you want to see your efforts in the mirror. Everyone in some ways does.

Which is why cosmetic clinics are so busy at this time of the year. There are tons of people looking to start fresh parallel to nature and many clinics recommend that their clients opt for certain treatments if they want a little refresher in this coming season.

Skin Cleansing

Many tend to think that winter is a clean season, which in some ways it is. Colder winters mean less viruses in the summer, so a healthier year altogether. But winter can also be quite dirty in its own right.

If you happen to live in the city, you’re still getting all that smog and little nasty particles that hang around in the air. And even if you happen to be the cleanest person alive, there’s no way around them when it comes to how our skin is structured.

As you probably know, skin isn’t just a flat, smooth surface. It has a ton of bumps, holes and trenches which are susceptible to a build up of dirt. And while this is very much natural, it’s not something you probably want on your skin. On in it for that matter.

Even if you clean your skin constantly, dirt and gunk will build up in the pores regardless. Which is why there are special cleansing treatments which aim to eliminate this hard to reach gunk and clean out the pores of the skin. Skin cleansing comes in many different forms, from special creams, to baths to masks, but either way, the main purpose is to clean out the harder to reach areas of the skin, where simple soap and water won’t do the job.

When the pores are cleaned out, this means that the skin can breathe a lot better, can absorb moisture more efficiently and is generally much healthier and stronger. In the coming rainy season, this is exactly what you need to keep your skin and body healthy.

Skin Refreshers

Sometimes, simply cleaning and cleansing skin isn’t enough. While our skin does shed naturally, it doesn’t always do this when we want it to or as often as we’d like. When skin sheds, it replaces old, worn out, even dead skin cells, with fresh and healthy ones, which are able to withstand a lot more wear and tear from the outside world.

Again, this happens naturally overtime, as skin cells begin to die out and shed, being then replaced by new ones. But if you want this to happen more frequently as you want to have healthier and stronger skin for the coming muddy weather, you can always try a different method.

Microneedling is a special, minimally invasive procedure that specializes in revitalizing the skin, but stimulating the body to create new skin cells. It’s function is very simple to understand: have you noticed how when you scrape yourself a little or when you get a tattoo, the skin on those areas feels soft and smooth? That’s because the damaged skin cells are replaced with new ones.

Sometimes even referred to as “dry tattooing”, microneedling performs this exact same mechanic, just on a more controlled level. Using a special tool, clinic specialists will poke hundreds of tiny holes in certain parts of the body, including the face. The needles are microscopic, which means the holes are as well, barely deep enough to cause very tiny amounts of bleeding.

Once the holes are poked, they are then regenerated naturally by the skin with fresh skin cells, which are stronger and healthier than the ones before. So basically: microneedling stimulates your skin to create new cells.
This has several advantages. First and foremost, skin becomes much smoother. Microneedling is nowadays a famous treatment for various wrinkles, acne scar and other kinds of skin damage. But with the new skin cells replacing the old ones, it also has the effect of making the skin more resilient. With all the fresh new cells replacing the old ones, this means that they are able to take more damage from the outside elements and are much cleaner, which lowers the chance of getting infections.

So, not only does microneedling make aesthetic improvements, but it’s also a great way of keeping your skin fresh and healthy.

Down to the Basics

But all in all, spring is a time of very balmy and anodyne weather conditions. You don’t have to worry about the extreme cold winds of the winter or the scorching heat of the summer. It’s perfectly in-between, and while it does have it’s own fair share of little things to worry about, most of the time, the best thing to do is to follow your normal routine of cleaning and washing.

Just making sure to be mindful of your skin’s health and appearance can go a long way in not only keeping it healthy for the spring, but for all the other coming seasons as well.
